University lecturer celebrate his mum who died in the 1968 civil war 77th birthday with an interesting story

Dr Antigha Essien is a very sound lecturer in the prestigious Cross River University of Technology, Calabar. A product of the University of Ibadan. Dr Essien took to Facebook to celebrate his mum who would have been 77years old today if not for the Civil war.

Antigha revealed how his mum, a Nurse was forced into the war front by Nigeria Soldiers to treat their injured counterparts. His mum whom he refers to as MMAYEN had no option than to follow the soldiers after they threten to burn down their house if she does not comply. Sadly that was the last time the family were seeing the brave Nurse as she never made it home alive. She died at the war front. Read Dr Essien's post below

"MMAYEN WOULD HAVE BEEN 77 TODAY

1968...DURING THE CIVIL WAR

Hear Nigerian soldiers;"We know there a nurse in this house...let her pack her things and follow us immediately or we will burn this house down".
" We don't have any nurse in his compound",screamed my grandmother...please leave us alone"
Soldiers: '' You are  joking with us! We'll burn this house down...''.These riffle wielding men of the Nigerian army were looking so fierce. Then my mother,Mmayen stepped forward:"please don't burn the house....I'm ready to go with you.....I'm a nurse':.MMAYEN had a strong but very kind heart.Amidst wails and cries of her mother and family. She squared her shoulders and followed the soldiers. The Nigerian army needed medical personnel. to attend to wounded soldiers.Mmsyen had a very brave but yet very tender heart.

MMAYEN went to be with Lord exactly 10:10 a.m on the 14th of February, 2004,ON ST.VALENTIB DAY.SHE'D HAVE BEEN 77 TODAY.Folks join me to celebrate this great Amazon who gave so much to make me and my siblings what we are today.
