Gbadebowale Wayne Aboderin, the Chairman, Punch Nigeria Limited,    is dead.   He died on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 6.05am after a heart surgery at the First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi, Lagos at the age of 60. Until his death, he was Chairman Punch Commercial Printing Limited  and  Lukahed Properties Limited. He attended the Government College, Ibadan and trained as a pilot in the United States. He was the founder and chairman of  the Dolphins Female  Basketball Foundation, and also a former chairman of the Lagos State Basketball Association.   He was a one-time vice-president of the Nigerian Basketball Supporters Club.

Teacher stabs husband to death in Lagos .    A man has been stabbed to death by his wife, during a fight at their residence in Ikorodu, Lagos. The sad event happened, yesterday morning. According to wife, who is a teacher and a mother of two, she stabbed him in self defense, after being pinned down by the deceased, who was notorious for always beating her. When interviewed, the sobbing suspect said: “I didn’t kill him intentionally. He was always battering me. Today, he pinned me down and started beating me again. . I picked the knife to scare him, but I mistakenly stabbed him. I couldn’t have killed my husband intentionally. In the past, I used to run out of the house when being beaten, but today, he locked everywhere to prevent my escape. . My family have told me to divorce him but I didn’t want to, because he is the husband of my youth and we already have two children together. Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State, has been thrown into a mourning mood as a result of the death of a final year student, Olatundun Alexander Borokinni, who lost her life during childbirth. The deceased, who was an HND 2 student of the Department of Computer Science, was said to have gone into labor on Monday afternoon, at one of the hospitals in Abeokuta. It was gathered that late Borokinni was delivered of a set of twins at Korede hospital, before complication arose and was later referred to Federal Medical Centre, FMC Idi-aba, Abeokuta. According to an eyewitness, Bankole Damola, a student from Civil Engineering Department, "I went to do a medical checkup and have some test at the hospital yesterday, but I was fortunate to witness the scene. A man identified as Jude Chemezie, has allegedly been killed by a Mobile policeman attached to Ileviaoje hotel at Ijegun Ikotun, Lagos. It was gathered that the deceased was heading home after going to buy drinks at the hotel, when the officer just started shooting recklessly, while chasing away some miscreants, and a bullet caught Chemezie in the head.

A member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Steven Ukpukpen, slumped and died during an early morning workout today May 30th. He was said to have been jogging along Moore road in Calabara when he slumped.  He was rushed to a nearby Navy Clinic, but medical officials on duty said he was in a critical condition and therefore directed that he should be transferred to another hospital where he was confirmed dead.  Confirming the demise of the lawmaker, the speaker of the Assembly, John Gaul-Lebo, expressed shock at the news. The speaker said he was with the deceased as at 11pm yesterday.  “I am still in shock. I do not know what to say. We are in a meeting with the family members and we would later issue a statement on the sad development,” he said His remains have been deposited at the morgue. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Justice Adebunkola Banjoko of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, today sentenced a former governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, to 14 years in prison without an option of fine. Nyame, who was Taraba State governor between 1999 and 2007, was charged to court by EFCC for the misappropriation of N1.64 billion while he served as governor.
